New patient portal for St. Elisabeth Hospital in Cologne-Hohenlind: The first step will be in the gynecological clinic, before the m.Doc patient portal is successively rolled out to other departments. In addition, both partners want to work together in the future on the further development of the module portfolio – for the benefit of patients.
Cologne, June 20, 2022 – St. Elisabeth Hospital in Cologne-Hohenlind is becoming a smart clinic – at least in terms of patient communication. From now on, the digital healthcare pioneer m.Doc will ensure this with its patient portal Smart Clinic. A partnership agreement to this effect was signed on May 25, 2022.
In the first step, patients of the breast center will be able to use the portal. “Breast cancer treatment usually takes place over a longer period of time. It shows the best results when we keep our patients well informed and actively involve them in their care. This initial situation is ideal for testing stronger digital networking and more intensive communication between patients, doctors, nursing staff and other treatment partners in our hospital,” says Jan Haberkorn, MD, Head of Medical Documentation and Quality Management at St. Elisabeth Hospital in Cologne-Hohenlind, explaining the strategic considerations from the hospital’s perspective. In the coming years, this partnership will then be further expanded – with a view to the modules used as well as the specialist departments.
The fact that the Smart Clinic from m.Doc was and is already in practical use in clinics and rehabilitation facilities long before the KHZG was a decisive factor in the choice of the patient portal, continues Haberkorn’s colleague Frank Dünnwald, Managing Director of St. Elisabeth Hospital Cologne-Hohenlind: “The Smart Clinic from m.Doc convinced us as a holistic solution for the digital future of our hospital – but above all it corresponds to our self-image of patient-centered care. And of course, we expect the introduction to improve processes and thus ease the burden on employees.” This is one of the reasons why the company is committed to a partnership, in order to keep the option open for joint developments in the future.
m.Doc Managing Director Admir Kulin is also pleased about the “home game” – but not only because of the connection to Cologne: “The cooperation with St. Elisabeth Hospital Cologne-Hohenlind is exciting for us for two reasons. On the one hand, we share the central guiding principle of improving patient care, and on the other hand, new digital paths can only be taken together, which is why we are particularly pleased about hospitals that want to work in partnership with us on the further development of our module portfolio.”
