Dosing and m.Doc enter into strategic partnership

Heidelberg/Cologne, June 30, 2020. The figures are worrying: according to estimates by the World Health Organization (WHO), up to ten percent of all hospital admissions are due to adverse drug events. About one-fifth of these are fundamentally preventable medication errors, he said.

Heidelberg-based Dosing GmbH and Cologne-based m.Doc GmbH now want to change that and are pooling their expertise to do so. Dosing specializes in solutions for improving the safety of drug therapy. With MIA Service® – short for Medication, Information, Analysis – the company offers various web services related to drug therapy. Smart health pioneer m.Doc provides numerous digital solutions for clinics, rehabilitation and care facilities, and doctors’ offices based on its Smart Health platform.

In a first step, MIA Service® from Dosing will now be integrated into the Smart Clinic patient application from m.Doc. This will add important basic information on medicines to the benefits and services Smart Clinic offers patients before, during and after their hospital stay.

Better informed – better treated

Thanks to the cooperation between Dosing and m.Doc, patients will in future be able to search for medicines by trade or package name, active ingredients, active strength, manufacturer or a combination of these parameters. It will also be possible to search by scanning the barcode on the packaging. By linking MIA Service® to the m.Doc Smart Clinic, patients will thus have access to all important information.

In addition, the patient will be able to scan the Bundeseinheitlicher Medikationsplan (BMP) and convert it into a list of preparations. In this list, users can add their own notes and, via images and precise descriptions, personalize and thus improve the correct intake for themselves.

“Dosing and m.Doc combine their knowledge and expertise to be able to provide patients with comprehensible reasons and instructions for taking medications – for example, the important connection between the time of taking the medication and food intake,” explains Jens Kaltschmidt, CEO of Dosing GmbH. “Adherence is significantly increased by such information. Together, we make a lasting contribution to greater drug therapy safety.”

“The common goal of m.Doc and Dosing is to provide people with a digital cockpit for their medication during therapy in the hospital, but especially beyond. Our Smart Health platform as a whole aims to improve communication between patients, clinics, doctors and other service providers, and with the important addition of drug information, we are now a decisive step further along our path,” emphasizes Admir Kulin, founder and CEO of m.Doc GmbH.

For the future, both companies plan to work even more closely together and offer additional services.
